This sarcophagus lid, originating from Tomb B of the Molinello Tumulus in Asciano and dating to the last quarter of the 6th century BCE, is carved from fetid stone and depicts a reclining couple in a convivial pose, as if at a banquet. This representation is typical of Etruscan culture, where the iconography of the banquet symbolized the idea of union and prosperity in the afterlife. The lid, now displayed at the Museo Palazzo Corboli in Asciano, provides a fascinating glimpse into Etruscan beliefs and traditions related to life after death.
