The Madonna and Child by Taddeo di Bartolo
On the main wall is displayed the large altarpiece with the Madonna and Child, two angels, and Saints (1411-13), the origin of which is unknown. The Madonna, part of a polyptych by Taddeo di Bartolo, has been remounted with figures of Saints (Paul, John the Baptist, Agatha, and Peter) created by Paolo di Giovanni Fei, and above, with the Evangelists painted by the same artist or by Martino di Bartolomeo. The artwork, which reflects its original appearance, evokes the Belverde Madonna of Siena, with the child nestled against Mary's cheek, and features intricate sgraffito decorations. An honor drape, similar to a dalmatic, envelops the angels.
